This is gonna be a short post because everyone always hears from me.  I want to hear from you!  I want to know if any of you have had success with your natural stuff, if so, what do you use and how much?  What is your story?  There are people from all over the world that read this blog and I would love some feedback and to know other experiences!!!  If you are too shy to post, feel free to email me :)  I won't share, but I would love to learn from and hear from you!  My email is hyperprolactinoma@gmail.com

Some of you do post, but I cannot view your blog or profile...if you don't want
me to that is fine, but I'd love to get to know some of you better :)
(does that sound scary or what!)

P.S.  I would love some good healthy recipes too if you have any to share!!!
No refined sugar, or milk and whole grains are good!

  1. Hi Shy,

We've emailed a bit, but I'll update you on my herbal treatments for my prolactinoma (you asked for it!!)

Background: I was diagnosed in 2003 with a 7mm prolactinoma. Since then, I've been on no medications and my prolactin level has been between 70 and mid-30s. No major side effects other than mood swings.

Recently, when my prolactin climbed back up to 50, I was being pressured to begin Dostinex by my doctor (to help with fertility). To avoid that, I went to a naturopath, who prescribed high doses (10g) of Tyrosine combined with 2 tbsp of sage extract daily. I was also drinking peppermint tea daily and avoiding soy products and excessive bread products on her advice. I did this for about 3 months, even though it felt ridiculous to be consuming so many pills and drinking the god-awful tasting sage, because I was just praying that it would help with my fertility. I just got my most recent blood test...and my prolactin RAISED to 65. :(

Needless to say, I am now off the herbal stuff and have decided that unless my tumor negatively affects my overall health (like bone density, vision, or quality of life) I will not take conventional meds. Luckily, my husband agrees with me that we'd be happy to adopt to start our family, so we'll see what happens.

I enjoy reading your blog so I can see what works and doesn't work for you. Prolactinomas can be so mysterious and truly different for each person, but it's nice to know I'm not alone in this. Hang in there!

  2. Hello! I'm a new reader, just ran across your blog today. I recently had blood work done at my gyno's office after ttc for 10 months unsuccessfully and got a call Friday letting me know that my prolactin levels are "significantly" high. I didn't ask what the numbers were, because at the time that would have meant nothing to me, but now after all the researching I have done, I am itching to call tomorrow and find out exactly what my numbers are. I am scheduled for an MRI next Wednesday evening. I'm a but shaken by all of this, but everything I read seems to be fairly promising for an essay treatment. Nothing that I have read at all has anything to do with natural treatment until I came across your blog. I told my husband about it and I can't lie he thinks it's a bit crazy sounding, but I am VERY interested in your studies. How did you come up with the supplements that you use? Do you know of anyone else that has used this form of treatment? I don't know even the beginning of herbal oils and treatments, but is there any concern for long term effects from using them in high quantities on a daily basis? Are they expensive? I would love to hear any more info that you have on this issue. Thank you for recording your progress and I really do wish you the best of luck because I would love to not have to go the med and surgery route. Feel free to contact me with any info/questions at kendahl.throckmorton@gmail.com. Thanks!!!

  3. Jus found this blog page and read the couple messages above. I'v not blog page myself as such, but wanted to at least reply and contribute to this thread.

I was diagnosed in 2009 and had quite a rollercoaster journey...in a nutshell, any levels below 400 are safe and good. When originally diagnosed, my levels were hitting 2000! Not sur excate size of my adenoma but know its less then 10mm...I'm now tryin 3months without any Dostinex which has been helping me. Going for next MRI soon but am not goin to step-up the natural remedy route so when I retun in Feb, blood levels are still low (below 400)...levels will fluctuate, but as long as it stays down and general symptons remain aliviated...well, that's all that matters to me :)

Will return to this blog in the future and share my finding x x My top tip for anyone is this...Stay Positve!! :) x x

p.s. I have found Maca an excellent aid! Will try thr sage and possible some others x x
